Liposuction, also known as fat removal, is a procedure for body contouring in those areas where other weight loss methods, such as diet and physical activity, don’t allow for the reduction of excess fatty tissue.
The procedure involves surgically removing excess fat from specific body parts using a special cannula, after first injecting them with the Klein solution. This facilitates the breaking down of fat cells and constricts blood vessels. The most commonly operated areas are the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, arms, and chin. The extracted fat can be used as graft material to contour other areas (e.g., face, breasts, buttocks).
Liposuction can be performed under either general or local anesthesia, depending on the treated area.
Scars are virtually invisible. After liposuction, it is recommended to undergo specialized massages and wear compression clothing for a period of 6 – 8 weeks.
Adults in good health and with normal laboratory test results are eligible for the operation.
