Gynecomastia – enlargement of the glandular and fatty breast tissue in men can occur on one or both sides. There are many causes for breast enlargement in men, which include hormonal disorders, obesity, and side effects of many drugs.
Surgical treatment involves the removal of the enlarged glandular-fatty breast tissue, and in cases of significant gynecomastia, removal of excess skin.
Before the surgery, it is recommended to have:
an endocrinological consultation,
breast ultrasound (USG).
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and the hospitalization lasts one day. Depending on the progression of the disease, removal of the enlarged tissue can be done using liposuction or excision. The incision on the skin is made around the areola, making the scar virtually invisible after healing. After the procedure, a special compressive dressing is applied.
Adults in good health and with normal laboratory test results are eligible for the operation.
