Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

The skin around the eyes is exceptionally thin and delicate, which makes this area the first to show signs of aging. Sagging skin, under-eye bags, and deep wrinkles are flaws that diminish the youthful glow of our gaze, making our eyes appear tired. Sometimes, the excess skin on the upper eyelid is so much that it impairs vision.

Eyelid surgery involves removing excess skin and fatty hernias if present. This procedure can be applied to the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both at the same time. The scar is located in the crease of the upper eyelid or beneath the lashes of the lower eyelid, becoming virtually invisible once healed. The surgery is conducted under local or intravenous anesthesia.

After the surgery, dressings are applied to the wounds. Cold compresses are recommended. Recovery is typically short. Stitches are removed 5-7 days post- surgery. Patients can typically return to work after approximately 5-8 days (for upper eyelid surgery) or after 14 days (for lower eyelid surgery).
