Breast reduction

The breast reduction surgery is performed for both aesthetic and health reasons. Large, disproportionate breasts often cause discomfort for the patient and hinder her from performing daily activities or engaging in sports. They also result in posture defects. The skin and chest muscles cannot support such weight, putting all the strain on the spine.

The operation involves the partial removal of the gland along with excess fatty tissue and the elimination of surplus skin. The remaining part is shaped to make the breast firmer and positioned higher. Scars are located around the areola, vertically, and in the inframammary fold, known as an inverted T.

The surgery is conducted under general anesthesia, and the hospital stay lasts one day. Directly after the operation, the patient is dressed in a special bra, which should be worn 24/7 for a period of 6 weeks.

The final effect of the surgery can be assessed after 6-12 months.
