The issue of sagging breasts can arise due to the natural aging process, after pregnancy, or after rapid weight loss. As the skin loses its collagen and elastin content, breasts become flaccid, sagging, losing their firmness and youthful appearance. This often becomes a source of significant insecurities and lack of self- acceptance.
The mastopexy procedure reshapes the breasts to make them firm and lifted again. The shape of the breast gland changes, and excess skin is removed. It is also possible to reduce the size of the nipple-areola complex. Scars are located around the areola, vertically, and in the inframammary fold. Mastopexy can be combined with a breast augmentation procedure using breast implants.
The operation is conducted under general anesthesia, and hospitalization lasts one day. A special post-operative bra is given to the patient to support the breasts, which should be worn for 2 months for the breasts to properly shape. The final result is typically achieved 3-6 months post-operation.
Adults in good health and with normal laboratory test results are eligible for the operation.
