Facelift

As time progresses, the skin of the face loses its tension and elasticity due to the degradation of elastic and collagen fibers. Typically, after the age of 40, wrinkles and furrows start to appear, and the overall contour of the face changes. In the jaw area, saggy skin droops forming what are referred to as “jowls” and a double chin. A surgical facelift is a procedure designed to lift and tighten this sagging facial skin.

The facelift is carried out under general anesthesia. During the operation, not only the skin is tightened, but also the so-called SMAS, which is a deep-seated muscular fascia. Skin incisions are made on the temples, in the ear, and behind the ear. After this reconstruction, the skin settles better on the muscles, ensuring that the face retains its natural expressions. After the procedure, a loose multi-layered dressing is applied to the face.

In the initial days post-surgery, the face might be swollen and bruised. These symptoms gradually fade over time. After undergoing surgery, it’s advised to avoid bending over and engaging in physical exertion for at least a month.
